Pros and Cons of Udemy
Why Should You Choose Udemy?
- Wide range of courses – Udemy currently offers 15 major categories of courses ranging from software development to music, with up to 15 subcategories in each major category. It has over 210,000 courses taught in 65 languages.
- 30-day money-back guarantee – If students decide not to take a course for any reason within the first 30 days after enrollment, they can get 100% of the paid amount back.
- Immediate access – Upon enrollment, students have instant access to their chosen courses, as all course materials (PDF, financial templates, guidelines, and checklists) are pre-recorded and electronically available for easy download on any electronic device.
- Lifetime access to the enrolled course – Udemy courses, or any part of a course, can be retaken or revised unlimited times at no additional cost.
- Udemy discounts—Udemy reduces the cost of courses during its weekend, weekday, holiday, and non-holiday sales.
- Preview Courses – Udemy allows you to preview courses before purchasing to get a sense of the instructor’s teaching style and course content. This helps ensure you select the right course for your needs.
- Skilled educators—Instructors are generally business people with real experience in the subjects they teach rather than academics. They have “been there and done that” and can teach lessons from their time in the field. The lessons are mostly conducted in plain English with easy-to-understand examples and applications in real business settings.
- Certificate of Completion – Many Udemy courses award certificates of completion, and some have been approved for continuing education career credits.
- Costs Associated: The course creator sets pricing on Udemy. An estimated 10% of the courses offered by Udemy are free, while the rest generally cost less than $200.
